Aromatic polyimides containing imide-groups in their molecule chains are one of the most promising classes of high performance polymers and being widely used in ***ce and advanced aircraft, automobile, electric and electronic industries etc. However most of the polyimides show insolubility, infusibility and thus poor processability. Those undesired properties limit wider application of the polyimides.
GCPI as a super engineering plastic is a novel thermoplastic polyimide resin, which not only exhibits reasonably good thermal stability, excellent mechanical, better dielectric and chemical resistance properties, but also could be easily processed by thermal molding press, extrusion and or injection molding.
GCPI is available as a neat resin and also in composite form using carbon or glass fibers, PTFE, graphite, and/or other performance enhancing fillers. The composite will provide a higher tensile strength, a lower coefficient of friction, outstanding wear resistance, and sealing compliance.
GCPI can be molded into films, thick-wall tubing and rod or pole stock, and also other complex shaped components with precise and stable dimensions such as gears, seal rings, bearings and burn-in-sockets. So it is generally considered a replacement for metals, ceramics, thermoset resins, lower temperature thermoplastic and most common polyimides difficult to process.
